Life and Family: I went to work for a instrument maker soon after leaving U.City High and have been on more or less the same path ever since. I moved to New Hampshire in 1986, married the beautiful daughter of a yankee farmer and settled down to make mandolins in the rural community of Nottingham. Life is very good..... |
Life and Family: I am most proud of my two children, Sam and Maddy. Sam is a junior at Indiana University and plays Ice Hockey, along with majoring in Finance in the Kelly School of Business. Maddy is a senior in high school at Ladue and plays field hockey and works at Sportsman's Park. Both participated in Youth Leadership St. Louis. I served 6 years on the Ladue School Board, have been a St. Louis County Municipal Judge for the past 14 years, and am also President of Missouri Municiapl and Associate Circuit Judges Association., this year. I am married to Donna Camien Adler, a 1973 Ladue graduate |
Spouse: Penny Neuman Alper Phone number: (314) 878-8075 E-mail address: marc.alper@alperaudi.com Present occupation: Structural Engineer/Principal & President of Alper Audi, Inc.
Life and Family: Life's been very good, and we do enjoy it to the fullest. Fortunately we're all healthy, happy and comfortable. We have 3 great kids, mostly grown up now. Greg, the youngest, is a sophomore in engineering at Bradley University; Laura (28, MA in Journalism from Mizzou) just got married and is a director in Chicago of various cable-channel documentaries (she was nominated for an Emmy for a National Geographic series about 9/11); and David (32, MBA from SLU) has his own successful business a few blocks from U City HS making beautiful glass jewelry, mezzuzahs, keepsakes, neon and artwork. I anticipate a wedding for him sometime soon. Penny "retired" several years ago from teaching and as a Parent Educator for Parkway School District, and now is a heavy-duty volunteer. She is now the President of J-Associates, an active group at the JCC.
My work has been great, and I still enjoy it immensely. My firm, Alper Audi, (not a car dealership - my business partner is Andre Audi) is a vibrant, growing structural engineering firm, currently with 26 people. Working for architects, contractors, developers, and owners we design a wide variety of buildings for commercial, industrial and institutional projects with a construction value of nearly $1 Billion dollars each year. Designing office buildings, schools, hospitals, university buildings, condominiums, distribution centers, arenas, hotels, theme parks, manufacturing, retail and mixed-use centers and more, (some of them award winners too), keeps it very interesting and challenging. Some local projects that you might recognize include CBC High School, Shaw Park Place, St. Louis Ram's Practice Facility, Alberici's Headquarters (rated the "greenest" building in the world), SLU Arena, The Crescent condominiums, The Boulevard (Maggiano's etc.), the Galleria and lots of others. We are very proud that Alper Audi received an award from the American Subcontractors Association as Best Architect/Engineer in St Louis, the first year they gave out the award. I am licensed to practice in over 30 states, and more than half of our work is outside of the St Louis area.
I have gotten myself over-volunteered as well - but it's all good stuff, and I am honored to also have received several community service awards. I am the Chairman of the St. Louis Men's Group Against Cancer (a wonderful charitable organization; BTW our main event Sports Dinner is November 6, 2006, check out www.mensgroupagainstcancer.org); Vice-Chairman of the Jewish Community Center and active in the reconstruction and revitalization of the J's campuses; I am the most recent past-Chairman and former National Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies (MO), and a former officer and director of our synagogue. I am also a director of Enterprise Bank & Trust in Clayton. Volunteering has been very rewarding and has allowed us to make new friends and reconnect with old ones.
Penny and I have a fantastic condominium and boats at the Lake of the Ozarks, and go there whenever we can. I also try to ski (Colorado & Utah mostly) several times a year, and occasionally I golf, (not well).
Next 10 Years: I'm looking forward to being a Grandfather, (can you believe that we're all that age?), and being able to play more and travel more for fun. But because I still enjoy my work, I expect to continue working for a while longer.
Favorite Memories: All of the good friends and the fun, Wig-wam, Hamburger Heaven, (before cholesterol I used to be able to actually eat real hamburgers and fries with that secret sauce), and my red VW convertible. |
Life and Family: 12 years ago my husband and I semi-retired from the telecommunications industry and moved to Oklahoma. We bought a small ranch and operated a cow/calf operation. In addition we started raising horses and breeding. We had some good years and some bad and last fall we decided to downsize. We have quarterhorses and a few paints and they keep us busy. |
Spouse: Caroline Enderle Barber
Life and Family: The past 10 years have been interesting. Within a month after our 30th reunion, I went through a reasonably friendly divorce. Interestingly, the reunion and the divorce were unrelated events! Fortunately, within the year, I met and began dating a great lady (Caroline) who I ultimately married. We’ve now been married for over 4 years and life is great! Favorite Memories: I loved playing football at U. City. We were even a good football team during my junior year – at least for four games. After that, we tanked! Anyway, I loved the game, the game days and the camaraderie of playing with the team. I even loved and appreciated our coach, the famous Stub Muhl. When I tell people that my high school football coach played with Red Grange, there’s usually total disbelief. Hey, they played college football in the early 1920’s! |
Earl H. Barge ![]() Spouse: Sheila Applebaum Barge Phone number: (314) 606-1803 E-mail address: ebarge@charter.net Present occupation: Drug court Administrator

Life and Family: these last 10 years saw both my children graduate from college, ucla and university of judaism in los angeles. my darling daughter becky is an army pediatrician who is going to be doing a fellowship at walter reed army hospital for the next 3 years in pediatric neurology. she recently married mark garfinkle,an internist, who will soon be working at johns hopkins. my unmarried very handsome son is now an owner operator of 2 assisted living homes here in san diego after living in los angeles as norman lear's personal assistant. my wife, nan, is a lab supervisor at the same h.m.o. that employs me in the orthopedic surgery department. she and i are very fortunate to live in a beautiful place with wonderful friends |
Life and Family: I'm so blessed to have a wonderful family that is my pride and joy and is the most important part of my life. My husband of 25 years, Bill, has a small consulting firm specializing in compensation consulting of which I am an active participant. It's been both challeging and liberating having our own business. Bill is also an adjunct professor in the MBA programs at both Maryville University and Webster University. |
Life and Family: Not much to report. I'm still in Destin playing golf, reading, boating. I now have two grandchildren-Tyler 4 and Reagan 2. My daughter's been married for 8 years to Mike who teaches at Maplewood; Amy is celebrating her tenth anniversary as a salesman at KTVI. I look forward to seeing a lot of people I'm sure I won't recognize. |
Next 10 Years: Now that my kids are grown, and I am very happily married and working just part-time, I look forward to having more time to spend on the important things in lifefamily, friends, and smelling the roses. I believe in taking one day at a time and making the most of itfilling each day with love, learning, and living. Favorite Memories: My favorite memories are of the people and friendships. The activities that stand out most in my mind are being in Dr. Procasky's chorus and shows, being a Camp White Cloud counselor, planning the GAA Big Sister/Little Sister picnics, going on the Washington DC trip and going to Wigwam each Friday night. |
Phone number: (314) 576-4036 E-mail address: jblackt@sbcglobal.net Present occupation: semi-retired teacher
Life and Family: The last ten years have brought many changes in my life. After 31 years of teaching in Parkway School District (primary grades and more recently as a reading specialist), I took "early retirement" two years ago. I guess, however, I wasn't quite ready to retire. Since then, I've continued to be employed by Parkway accepting long term substitute assignments for reading specialists. Last year I job-shared a reading specialist position. It was the best of both worlds doing what I loved but only part time! I divorced 5 years ago after 26 years of marriage. It's been quite an experience dating in the 21st century. I'm enjoying my independence and have discovered new inner strengths. My two greatest joys are my children. Julia is 27 and is a strings teacher in Rockwood School District in St. Louis. She married a wonderful man last year, and I'm thrilled that they have chosen to remain in St. Louis. My son, Jordan, is 20 and starting his junior year in college. Like his sister, he is also a music major. He wants to either be a choral director or arrange and compose music. He currently sings in 3 different university choirs and has started a men's a cappella group. The best thing about having musical children is attending all their concerts. My son recently sang in Prague, Budapest, and Vienna, and I spent two weeks traveling to those cities to hear him sing. Next 10 Years: I've been very blessed thus far. My life with family, friends, and career, has been rich and rewarding. I'd like to continue to teach reading part time or privately tutor. Although I've traveled extensively, there are still many places in the world (and even in the U.S.) that I hope to visit. I'd like to "smell the roses" more and enroll in some college or continuing ed. classes for fun. I'd also like to give back to the community by doing more volunteer work. Of course I'm so envious of all my classmates who are already grandparents. I hope I have that opportunity when the time is right. Finally, I'd like to eventually leave the dating scene behind and meet that "someone special" to share my life. Favorite Memories: It wasn't until I was much older and had children of my own that I fully realized how fortunate I was to have attended such an amazing high school. I remember with fondness orchestra with Mr. Lang, playing in the musical "Sound of Music", the stimulating biology class with Mr. Jackoway, and Mrs. Gottlieb's challenging English class. I relished all the football games when we cheered in the stadium wearing our black derbies with the yellow feathers and shaking our black and gold pom-poms. I remember decorating the gym and turning it into a magical place before school dances. Best of all I cherish the lasting friendships with classmates who are still my very special friends |
Phone Number: (630) 924-7538 Life and Family: I have been able to remain in relatively good health. I have spent the last 25 years in and around the automobile industry. I travel 2-3 days a week around the country visiting Honda and Acura Dealers and working with them on Customer Service. I've been fortunate enough to have been in the company of more than one woman who enjoys my company, as I do theirs. All in all I have no complaints. |
Life and Family: I'm still blessed with a wonderful family - wife Sandy - children: Adam 28 (wife Gretchen), Michelle 26 (husband, Jason), and Rick almost 19, who still seem to love me despite my faults and bad jokes. 2 year old grand-daughter, Lily, brings smiles to all our hearts and our "due any day" grandson will add to that. Sandy and I are very happy with the people our children have grown to become and I'm not sure we could ask for anything more than that. |
Life and Family: Married 34 years...two kids...one an English teacher at a boarding school in rural Massachusetts…the other is graduating from MICDS (Mary Institute Saint Louis Country Day School) and will be attending the University of Denver in the Fall. Formerly worked as a tax attorney for your friends: the Internal Revenue Service. After that, I was an officer with Kimberly-Clark for many years in up-state Wisconsin. I have been back in St. Louis and at the family business for the last 22 years. Achieve Next 10 Years: Keep breathing. |
Life and Family: We celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary ('06)- Daughter Gena Ph.D.(cellular structural biology-Don't ask) Daughter Iris M.A. cultural anthropology. Both married good guys. We still have the same house of 30 years, our 24 year old Sven, our 18 year old Inge and our 10 year old Tria (our Volvos). Linda and I still like to go out and "shake a tail feather" every now and then (she hates it when I twirl her)still try to run on weekends for endurance for hopefully a long life together. Still have our sights on Italy. |
Life and Family: I married my high school sweetheart, Debbie Heinze (class of '65). We have 3 wonderful kids, 2 girls and a boy. They ages are 32,30, & 28. They're all college grads and I'm very proud of them. I have 4 grand-kids with the 5th one due this month. Unfortunately, after 20 years of marrage we divorced in 1988. I ran wild for several years, I guess because I married at the age of 21. I love county music and dance. I danced several days a week. I met a very nice young lady (Melody) several months after my devorce. We became friends and danced a lot. Unfortunatly for me she was married and I respected her situation. Her husband didn't like county music or dancing either. He didn't mind his wife dancing with me. Over the following years I had a few relatonships, but after 20 years of marrage, I wasn't looking for any commitments. Melody and I remained friends for a long time. Unknown to me at the time, she devorced in 1992. We began dating some, and after a bad divorce to her second husband the last thing she wanted was a relationship. It was kind of nice because we where both on the same page with that situation. Our friendship began to grow and so did our relationship. In August of 1996 we where married. I think that our long friendship made a big differance. We sure got to know each other very well before we decided to get married again. She is the center to my world and we're both very happy.I look forward to gorwing old with her. |
Spouse: Marcia (U City '67) Life and Family: Marcia and I have been busy sending our four children to college for the last 10 years. Our oldest daughter Tara is 32, Emily is 31, Brent is 28 and Justin is 25. Tara lives in Lyons, CO where she practices Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Emily lives in Boulder, CO and is a special education teacher at the middle school. My son Brent, shares the honors with me at Brock Auto and my other son, Justin is in commercial real estate in We have just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and still going strong. We have just become Grandparents for the first time to a beautiful granddaughter, Cora Lily. We spend a lot of time in Colorado visiting our children and skiing in Telluride. Golf has become a big part of our life and we spend many hours trying to improve our skills. Work is still fun and I do not see an end to that in the near future. I still need the action. Next 10 Years: Looking forward to many more grandchildren and a lot of pars. LIFE IS GOOD. |
Life and Family: Seven years ago Len and I purchased a condo in Naples, Florida. We live in an area called Pelican Bay, 1/2 mile from the ocean. We spend the winter there. We have been lucky to make some special European trips in the last 10 years including England, France,Monaco, and Italy. We especially enjoyed the art, history and the food in these places. My hobbies include golf, bike riding, and reading for pleasure. Other interests include the St. Louis symphony and Broadway shows. I have had Lasik surgery which has eliminated the need for glasses. We visit Chicago often as both of our children live there. |
Spouse: Bruce Reznick (U.City '65)
|
Spouse: Norma Ungs Buchwach Phone number: (913) 491-1110 E-mail address: doc2708@aol.com Present occupation: facial plastic surgeon
Life and Family: I have a life with very few complaints. Not that it would be my nature to complain anyway. My wife says I can see the good in everything. By the way I have the same wife and the same two daughters. Norm (she hates Norma) and I have been married 31 years. She is the boss and I have never been confused about that nor have I ever tried to overthrow her regime. Abby is 22 and just graduated from the University of Michigan. She is applying to medical school. Allison is 20 and is a junior at Michigan. She has only a few clues as to what she wants to do in the future. Both girls have been great and really haven't caused us any anxiety...yet.
We live in the same house in Leawood a suburb of Kansas City. My practice is entirely facial cosmetic surgery. I work until 1:30 each day and then play golf or do clinical research. I am the principal investigator for the new Botox that should be out in (oops, I can't say when, but tell your wrinkles help is on the way).
I continue to run and did the Chicago Marathon a few years ago. My muscles spasms immediately afterward were significant enough that if anyone had yelled "hey pretzel man" I know who they meant.
Next 10 Years: I plan to continue to work as long as it is enjoyable. I hope my daughters find guys who don't have "love" or "hate" tattooed on their knuckles. I also prefer that they don't get those tattoos as well.
Wishing for good health is pedestrian. I really am hoping for much more. Specifically a better golf game. Good health is much easier to achieve than good golf.
Favorite Memories: White Cloud and legitimately missing school both years. Rinaldi's and Nino's. The strip. Joe Hale. Miss Bowers (actually I went to her apartment near Union Station...not alone of course). Beating Ladue and Clayton at anything. A real sense of pride in a wonderful school with so many terrific classmates who excelled at many things not just good grades. |
Life and Family: Enjoyed watching my 2 daughters grow into adulthood. |
Life and Family: I work for Bulova Corp.(NY). I've been married to Patti Silverman UC'72 for 30 Years. We have 2 sons Tim 29 and Tony 26. Both have graduated college UMSL & Mizzou, respectively. Patti & I became proud Grandparents May 27. This is our first. His name is Aidan Patrick Carney (what a great Irish name.) Relax, he's 1/4 Jewish. |
Spouse: Steve Korenblat Life and Family: I have recently retired after having worked for over twenty years as an attorney for the federal court of appeals in St. Louis. My husband is a real estate attorney in a large St. Louis law firm. Our daughter Rachel practices law in New York City. Our son Josh is not an attorney, but a writer and an artist. After working six years in the art department of National Geographic Magazine in Washington DC and receiving a master's in fiction writing, he is now enrolled in a master's in teaching program at Brown. Next 10 Years: To spend time with family and friends and to travel. To spend time with family and friends and to travel. |
Life and Family: The past 10 years brought me more frequently to St. Louis, since my son and daughter both attended Washington University. My daughter now lives in New York, and my son, after a 2-year extension in St. Louis, will be moving back to the DC area this year. In 1996, after 22 years of teaching elementary school, I switched to teaching government/economics in a middle school. I wish I had done this 10 years earlier, since I feel teaching 13 & 14 year olds is definitely my "calling". 9/11 changed all our lives. Watching the events unfold on TV that morning with my students was their "Nov. 22nd" moment. (My guess, each of us remembers exactly where we were during our sophomore year at UCHS upon hearing the news.) This event helped me teach my students to distinguish between things that are important and those that are trivial. |
Life and Family: After being divorced since '92, I found renewed happiness and remarried in 2005. My 3 daughters are in their 20's and living on their own (no grandchildren yet though!), so Norm and I are still working hard, he with his trailer business and I still teaching French at Webster Groves High School, and we enjoy traveling to Florida and elsewhere. |
Life and Family: My husband, Steve, and I live in Scottsdale, Arizona with our rescue animals—our giant schnauzer, Vey; our German shepherd/Rhodesian ridgeback mix, Lox; and our cat, Tova. We have two sons. Our oldest lives in St. Louis with our two terrific grandchildren, Emma 4 and Samuel 2, who we see fairly often (aren’t webcams great!). Our younger son lives in Phoenix and is still a work in progress. I completed my degree in secondary education, obtained a certificate in mediation and started my own business called, Go Teambuilders. I was president of my synagogue for four years. I also work back office in my husband's ophthalmology practice. I survived being held at gunpoint the gunman used a 9 mm Glock. I have my Concealed Weapon permit. (I wanted to buy a Winchester pump shotgun, but the guy at Sports Authority talked me out of it). Most importantly, my family is extremely close. Favorite Memories: Wigwam, chorus (Dr. Pro was one of a kind), Hamburger Heaven, junior/senior prom with Sandy Friedman, the senior play, football games, Jerry Kreisman, Cyrano's, Camp White Cloud, Imo's Pizza, Gaslight Square. |
|
Spouse: Bob Tegman (U. City '65) Present occupation: retired Life and Family: We have three beautiful granddaughters, Maya, Abigail and Lilah. Abby lives in Deerfield, Illinois with my daughter. Our son lives in Chesterfield with Maya & newborn, Lilah. They are such joys to us and have given us such pleasure. We recently moved after 31 years in Greentrails to a villa off Conway in Chesterfield called "Conway on the Grove." It was a wonderful move for us and has changed our lives. My husband & I are retired and we have been traveling the past ten years to Europe, Alaska, Panama Canal, Caribbean and nine cruises to various countries. We have been enjoying life and have celebrated 36 married years together.
|
Life and Family: We have 2 children who are married and we have 3 grandsons. We have lived in South Florida, North Jersey, and Chicago. We have traveled extensively and now have retired to South Florida. We enjoy golf, travel, and a country club lifestyle. |
Life and Family: The past 10 years have been quite the same as my last 39-1/2 years, except I lost both parents (1992 and 2000). I married a few times, but they didn't work and now I'm married to Mark S. Levitt (since 1987), who is an attorney and Municipal Judge and prosecutor. We have had no kids (my kids are my 2 lab puppies, 4 cats and fish). My biological clock went too fast. I've worked since 1968 as a legal secretary/administrative assistant. I started my own business in 1989 and it went quite well until 9/11 and then things went downhill. I then had to work for attorneys and it wasn't fun. I was used to being self-employed and doing "my own thing". Last summer I started a website, www.catlovers.us, and because it was a "niche" site, it hasn't done very well either. (Do I hear some negativity?) On the positive side, I did reunite with Barbara Tennenbaum Steinman and she has been keeping me abreast of things going on in the world of U.City66. It's nice to talk to someone who remembers Steak & Shake drivebys, Hamburger Heaven, streetcars, when a mouse was something you caught in a trap, when gas was $.19.9(!!!), etc. |
Life and Family: I am Professor of Biostatistics and Head of the Section on Research Methods and Clinical Trials at the UAB School of Public Health. I am involved in a variety of different medical research studies, graduate education and run the coordinating centers for a number of multicenter clinical trials. A great deal of my most recent work is in Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological diseases. I have been married for 36 years to another UCitian, Sharon Gornek from the class of '65, enabling me to have the experience of seeing a 40 year reunion as an interested bystander. I t's nice to see how age mellows some and how the treasures of our formative years survive. Sharon and I have 3 wonderful children and two grandchildren. My daughter Corey is an attorney in Atlanta; Sons Scott and Todd and their wives, Gisella and Ana, and daughters Liana and Maya, all live in Costa Rica, where they have tour and real estate businesses and welcomed visits now and then from (!) some U City Indians! |
Life and Family: Have been married 36 years and have 2 grown children, both living in St.Louis. David and I have been on an adventure the last 10 years...turning 50, he decided to change careers, becoming a college professor, which took us to Fargo, ND, Stillwater,O.K. (where he received his phd in marketing at Oklahoma State) and now Atlanta,GA, where he teaches in the business school at Clayton State University. When we were married he told me we would go to neat places, but never did I imagine I would leave St. Louis...I work presently in midtown Atlanta for a dentist, part time. |
Life and Family: Nancy and I have been married for 34 years. We have 1 son, Barry, now 28, living in Clearwater Beach, Florida. He does not seem to be getting the message that we want grandchildren (now). |
Spouse: Paul Jacobson Phone number: (414) 332-8848 E-mail address: lej24@aol.com Present occupation: Volunteer Coordinator, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra
Life and Family: It has been a time of immense change. In the last 10 years, both our children have gone to college, graduated, gone to graduate school, found jobs, moved away (one away from Milwaukee) and one has gotten married. A lot of happy changes. But also, in the last 10 years, both my mother and my sister have passed away. And the loss of each left an empty place in my life which I know I will never fill. What treasures family is, and how much we take it all for granted. As I once heard on a radio ad, "Call your mama; I wish I could call mine."
Next 10 Years: Now that our kids are (semi) launched, my husband Paul and I hope to do some living for ourselves in the next 10 years. He will retire at some point from his job as a pension lawyer for a Milwaukee law firm, and I will give up my part time delightful job as an administrator for young musicians and their families at the Youth Symphony. We are both lucky to be relatively healthy and enjoy many activities, so we will travel and continue to learn new skills and pursue new avenues.
Favorite Memories: Don't know where to start. I remember having fun with Lynne Spiegelberg and making posters in her basement for all kinds of school activities. I remember being in "The Music Man" and enjoying "The Boyfriend" and "The Sound of Music". I remember remarkable teachers, Mrs. Gottleib, Miss Bowers and others. And lots of faces from McKnight School on...can't wait to see you again! |
Life and Family: Perry and I have successfully launched our son and daughter both to Chicago. I retired 6-05 from 30 hrs. teaching HS Biology loved my career and am now a science tutor and study skills consultant and enjoying planning my own schedule! My husband retired and began a 2nd career, so we are busy but fulfilled! Have recently moved my folks from St. Louis to Springfield, IL area and that occupies lots of my attention. I successfully fought breast cancer in 2002-03 and am doing very well at present. We are very close to our family, love traveling, and I love maintaining my UCity contacts, as well as my Indiana Univ. connections. Been married since 1970 guess that is an accomplishment I am proud of, too! Our son Matt is getting married in May, 2007(graduated from U of Ill. and Duke MBA) and our daughter Stacy (Univ. of Arizona graduate) is in process of re-locating to Chicago and is actively job-hunting in banking, so both of our kids will be in same city |
Life and Family: Actually I'm going to go back a lil' bit more than 10 years ago.... From 1972-1975, I lived in Israel, trying to make aliyah, but ended up back in St. Louis, MO with my (then) 8-1/2 month old daughter, Galia, and husband Shai, from whom I'm now divorced (since 1992). Next 10 Years: In the next 10 years, I would like to be more proficient in my Hebrew, doing at least one, maybe two, haftarah a year. I would also like to finish this book that I've been working on, get it published, and then start on a new one. Of course, I would like to be on the BEST SELLER's LIST, too!! (smile) Favorite Memories: Some of my favorite memories include being in Mr. McKinney's chemistry class. He was NOT the typical teacher. He actually made learning (chemistry) fun. I liked going to Washington, D.C. on my senior trip, tho' don't ask me too much about it, cuz the memory is a bit fuzzy there. (smile)I
liked being a part of the Esperanto Club... it was fun being able to speak a language other than those required in school. Surprisingly, my French became so much better AFTER I finished high school, than while I was there (sigh). |
Spouse: Sue Koffman Dubman Phone number: (650) 589-2088 E-mail address: joe_dubman@msn.com Present occupation: customer service
Life and Family: My wife and I have finally settled down after moving many times the last 10 years. We are living in the San Francisco bay area and love it here! We just celebrated our 35th anniversary. We have one son, Robert. He is married and has a daughter, Maya, who is 4 months old. They all live in the Boston area. I am currently working in customer service at a home cleaning company. Every Thanksgiving, my wife, Sue and I go to visit our family in St. Louis.

Also, wigwam, Cardinals baseball games, bowling at Bowl-A-Rama, and going to the Tivoli, Varsity, and Shady Oak on dates. My favorite teacher was Mr. McKinney. Loved my junior/senior trip to Washington DC. |

Life and Family: Last 10 years have been spent in Phoenix working for Insight Enterprises selling computer hardware and software. Been selling one thing or another for my entire career (except a nice tour of Southeast Asia working for Uncle Sam) see what happens when you don't know what to do with your life. I have 3 kids (Brandon-28 and a career Navy man, Katie-26 and an aspiring elementary teacher, and Kim-22 and a recent Ohio U grad.) I also became an avid motorcycle enthusiast (some would call me a biker now). |
Phone number: (212) 233-3418 E-mail address: suellen.nyc@mindspring.com Present occupation: Business owner, Teacher.
Life and Family: Blessed with good health, great friends, all of my siblings (8) and my classy Mom (still weaving, quilting and entertaining in her new home, NO stopping her!) We lost Dad in 2002, Dr Epstein to many of you. The big change has been the 9/11 disaster and its immediate and continuing effects to my neighborhood of 33 years. And the many unimagined lessons learned there. Need I say more? Next 10 Years: I rarely set goals. I don't remember ever planning anything more than 3 months in advance.
Favorite Memories: Getting kicked out of Jacobe's class, often. Miss Patterson's wonderful Latin class. Chinese class. Timer at the swim meets. Scuba lessons in the natatorium. The social life. |
Spouse: Barbara Sundheimer Extein Life and Family: I have a very busy private practice involving office and hospital work, and I still find psychiatry fascinating. Barbara and I continue to try to keep up with 4 wonderful children, ages 18 to 27, all still in various stages of education. I never really dreamed in high school how satisfying parenthood could be. I'm still a sports nut, playing JCC basketball and following the Cardinals and the Miami Hurricanes, and enjoying the hot weather of south Florida when I get a chance. Next 10 Years: Just keep it all going, and get some grandchildren. Favorite Memories: All the bright, wonderful friends. Mr. Jackoway's bio class, Mrs. Gottlieb's English class and lively debates. Our tennis team. Pizza. |
Spouse: Doyle Pryor (U City 1966) Phone number: (212) 838-6874 E-mail address: amfnyc@aol.com Present occupation: Executive Director
Life and Family: I am still working as the Executive Director of a small trade association. I did get married--it took moving to New York to meet a man from Kansas City. My husband is one of the staff attorneys for the Major League Baseball Players Association, so I have learned more about baseball than I ever hoped to. I became the proud stepmother of two interesting young men and watched them mature to adults. One, the rock star, has given us two very entertaining grandchildren with one more on the way.
Next 10 Years: During the next 10 years I would like to retire from my everyday job and spend more time doing my volunteer work with NY Cares; it is much more rewarding. |
Life and Family: Come to the reunion and find out. |
|
Life and family : Our two kids have grown and have gone on to successful careers: Amy as a first grade school teacher in St. Louis, and Adam as business manager for Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Montgomery, AL. Joyce is extrememly active in the Green Valley community, both volunteering and as Exec Director of a large non profit. My work keeps me busy, managing world wide supplier sourcing for the world's largest garage door opener manufacturer. I travel to China twice a year, to visit my staff there and work with suppliers. I have continued my trumpet playing that I started 50 years ago in U City. I am in 4 groups, and was recently featured in a full page write up in the Green Valley News (www.gvnews.com). Favorite Memories: The friends I made, especially in band; Roger Warner and all the great music we students made; the 1964 Midwest Band Clinic the band attended in Chicago, where we met Doc Severnsen and Meredith Willson. |
Life and Family: My success is my family. I have been married for over 35 years to Soozi who has been the love of my life. As a matter of fact Fred Miller fixed us up and because of that it took me over 25 years to talk to that SOB, Fred, again. Soozi and I have a daughter, Julie, who has been married for over 4 years to a wonderful man, Tim. Our son, Brian, who has lived in Houston for the last 2 years, has a new job and has just moved back to Dallas. Soozi, Julie and I all work together as realtors in the Dallas area. I am a fortunate man that I work with my two favorite women in my life and that we still all get along. So if you ever need a realtor in the Dallas area give us a call or visit our web site: soozifinkelstein.com |
Life and Family: I’ve been at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, since 1979 doing atmospheric chemistry research—specifically how to use satellites to measure air pollution. In general, it’s been a fantastic job as I’ve had the freedom to pursue topics of my own choosing (as long as I can get NASA funding to support the work). Whereas many of my ideas were out of the mainstream 20 years ago, they’ve generally been accepted and we are now trying to sell a satellite to the country that is dedicated to measuring air pollution from space (rather than use currently orbiting satellites that were originally designed to do other things). The job has allowed me to travel a lot (probably too much!) as the global atmospheric chemistry business is inherently an international endeavor. Our daughter, Melissa (24), graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington this past December, and is working as a recreational therapist at a residential hospital for adolescents with autistic and emotional disorders. I think being a member of our somewhat atypical family has brought her a special gift for working with this population. Sue is a reading specialist for 1st and 2nd graders at the Poquoson Primary School where she works with at-risk children. In 2005, we became foster parents for one of her students and it really opened our eyes as to how disadvantaged some children are because of their home environment. We also now have first-hand information that has shown us the complicated character of the traditional “nature vs. nurture” argument. Outside the family, Sue and I enjoy playing bridge and getting out whenever we can. We belong to the Poquoson Yacht Club (even though we don’t own a boat!) and to the Colonial Shag Dancing Club. I still play softball in a co-rec NASA league and enjoy pretending that I can still play the field like Dal Maxvill. We’re still big Cardinal fans and try to see at least one game every year (the last two years we’ve traveled to Atlanta and Washington to see games). My son Jason has never been to a losing game so I think the Cardinals should hire him as a professional fan! |
Life and Family: Stan and I celebrated our 37th anniversary this year and after all this time, he is remains my special sweetheart. Our two sons, while raised in California, decided to head to the midwest for college. Andy, now 33, graduated from Mizzou, and Bryan who is 30 finished his education at the University of Wisconsin. Happily for their mother, they each returned to the west coast. Andy is married; he is a Deputy Attorney General for the State of |
Morris (Morrie) Edward Fleishman
Spouse: Roberta Wainer Fleishman Phone number: (949) 768-3940 E-mail address: Mefleishman@cox.net Present occupation: Senior Cost Engineer
Life and Family: The most important milestone of the past 10 years was celebrating my 34th Wedding Anniversary with my wife Roberta. The highlight of the last 10 years was the graduation of our daughter Sara and our son Matt from college. Sara received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona and then received her Masters in Occupational Therapy from USC. Matt graduated with a BS in Business Administration from USC after spending 4 years playing Tuba in the USC marching band. Needless to say we saw a lot of football games. Sara is now working in Phoenix at a school for handicapped children and Matt is in the IT department for a Biotech company in San Clemente, California.
I am still working for Southern California Edison as a Senior Cost Engineer at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. I have also been active with the AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering), a professional society, which elected me to the grade of Fellow in 2005. I am currently serving as the Association's Certification Chairman. Even though my Eagle Scout is now 27, I remain in the Scouting Program as an Adult Scouter. I spent two years as the Scoutmaster, and I remain an Assistant Scoutmaster of the Troop that I helped form at our Congregation. I have also been an Advisor in the Order of the Arrow, the Scout Camping Honor Society, at both the Local and Council levels, and I recently returned from East Lansing Michigan where I attended the National Order of the Arrow Conference with 8,000 of my fellow Scouts and Scouters. I was honored by the Saddleback District with the District Award of Merit, and by the Orange County Council with the Silver Beaver award. The latter is the highest award that a volunteer can receive from his Council.
For fun, I am an active Model Railroader with a layout in my garage, we don't have basements in California, and I still read a lot of history books. I also like to fish when I get a chance. Over the last couple of years we have traveled to London and Paris with the Cost Engineers and have been to Williamsburg and Gettysburg and Colorado. In Colorado we rode the Narrow gauge railroads the Cumbres and the Toltec and the Durango Silverton.
Next 10 Years: My number 1 goal is to retire. There are a lot of things that I would like to do and work gets in the way. Then of course I would like to do some more traveling and maybe take a few history classes that I was never able to take in Engineering School.
Favorite Memories: I remember the friends that I spent almost every weekend with, Jeff Hupert, Neil Portnoff, Ron Miller, Jerry Wasserstein, George Gruber, and others. I still keep in touch with many of them. While I did occasionally attend WigWam, mostly we went to movies, played sports, ate at Parkmoors and Stake and Shake and just had an all round good time being with each other. I remember spending a lot of time down at the South end of the gateway arch as it was just being built. I remember the guys on the wrestling Team, Rich Fitzgerald, Brad Zemel, Marc Goldberg, Felix Panlasiqui and others not in our class. I remember Mark and Marlon Henley the drafting teachers that got me interested in becoming an engineer. I can remember the day President Kennedy was killed and I can see the cafeteria as it was and I remember sitting in the drafting room listing to the news over the loudspeaker. Who could forget Chemistry with Joe Hale. We had a good life. |
Life and Family: I have been in the field of education for the last 35 years. I was the director of a preschool for twenty years and I've been teaching 4th/5th grade in the Parkway School District for the past four years. My two children were married three years ago and I have one grandchild-- it's the best! |
Phone number: (314) 576-9682 E-mail address: lindas@ric-tronics.com Present occupation: CEO RIC-Tronics, Inc. ( www.ric-tronics.com) and TagAlarm (www.tagalarm.com).
Life and Family: I am the owner of RIC-Tronics, Inc. a distributor and importer of electronic components, (those little things on printed circuit boards). I have been running the company since the untimely death of my husband nearly 11 years ago. We celebrated our 25th year in business in May with a company trip to Cancun. My job requires me to wear many hats, necessitating learning about inventory control, purchasing, sales, collection, administration, HR, P&L, insurance and the correct way to on & off load a truck. I wish I had studied business instead of getting my degree in Spanish. However, my Spanish does come in handy in dealing with our Mexican customers. I studied Mandarin for three years, but have never been able to communicate well with the Chinese. My job does allow me to travel frequently to Europe, Asia, and throughout the U.S.
After losing my wallet to a pickpocket in Prague, I invented the TagAlarm "the Burglar Alarm for your Bags." I've sold thousands on my website (www.tagalarm.com) and presented the TagAlarm on QVC last year. I received my patent in June and have just taken a large order from a company in India. TagAlarm will be in catalogs this fall. My invention introduced me to the new world of manufacturing, merchandising, package design, and web promotion.
I am a member of the Creve Coeur Parks & Recreation Committee which has been instrumental in establishing a Dog Park for our community. I have been approached to run for public office at the local level, but have not made a decision at this time.
I have one daughter, Tracey(25) who, after graduating from Arizona State, decided that she was finished with cold weather. She lives in Phoenix and works for the city of Scottsdale. She is also a Yoga instructor for Scottsdale Junior College. I visit her frequently, but somehow always manage to be there during the "dry heat" of the summer months.
Next 10 Years: My plans for the next 10 years include visiting Israel, a trip I've put off for far too long. I'll retire when my job is no longer fun or challenging. I hope to constantly travel a circuit between St. Louis, St. Petersburg, Florida, & Scottsdale. Golf lessons must also be in my future.
Favorite Memories: I am quite saddened to think that in l966, we left our secure U.City cocoon to enter an outside world at war. And now, 40 years later, as we contemplate retirement, our world is at war again. Some things never change.
I remember that we(girls) were not allowed to wear slacks or jeans to school. We had to put our dresses or skirts on in the restroom before class. Some things do change!!
I think many of us did not realize or appreciate how fortunate we were to be a part of such a unique community where we received a superb free education and a high moral upbringing. I'm sure we all realize it now. |
Life and Family: Lived in Los Angeles from1986-2004: I am now living in Las Vegas and St.Louis. My husband is an attorney and is with a law firm in Las Vegas. The last ten years had lots of wonderful things for me - going to the Golden Globe Awards many times; the Academy Awards; the Emmy Awards; lots of movie priemieres. Lots of traveling as well. |

Life took a huge unexpected twist for us shortly after the 30th reunion, when we found that our son Noam (then not yet one) was autistic. Since then we've done a lot of learning, and a lot of working, and he's done pretty well -- but it does kinda take over your life. |
Phone number: (314) 991-0855 Life and Family: My Golf Handicap is my Ego. Barb Raben Smith and I share the two loveliest Grandkids in the World. Next 10 Years: Half the fun I had at U. City High. Favorite Memories: Nino's Pizzaria / Rinaldi's / Hamburger Heaven (Wish they were still around). The Strip (there was always something going on every night). Growing up in the 50's & 60's in a great place. / Mr. Geibler / Mr. Hale in ropes / The Stepp Brother's Review - 1966 Talent Show - (Was that a 1st Production? / Not) |
Spouse: David Hearin Phone number: (210) 375-5490 E-mail address: dhearin@satx.rr.com Present occupation: Commander, Nurse Corps, U.S. Navy Retired
Life and Family: retired Feb. 2005 after 27 years in the Navy Nurse Corps. This is my first contact with everyone, so I will go beyond the last 10 years. My husband and I have been married 35 years. We have two daughters, Libby, 30, a PharmD living in San Antonio with her husband of one year, Alex, and Mary, 21, a graduate student at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. We have lived several places state side, as well as 2 years in Guam and 3 years in Okinawa, Japan. My husband is also a Registered Nurse, but in the civilian world. He followed me all around the world, and worked on the economy wherever we went. David and I have been in San Antonio 3 months. We decided to move to be closer to my older daughter since I no longer have to move where I am told. We will also be around whenever Libby and Alex decide to have a baby. My 90 year old mother came to live with us as soon as I retired, so I am still working in the nursing field even though it is not outside the home!
During high school I thought I wanted to major in flute in college but decided upon nursing instead. I have been able to keep playing, though, these past 10 years, through community bands and orchestras. I have played in San Diego, Jacksonville, FL, Jacksonville, NC, Honolulu, Hi, Okinawa, Gaithersburg, MD, and now San Antonio.
My daughter, Libby, had the Navy pay for her last 2 years of Pharmacy school and did her 3 year payback at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, where I was stationed at the time. This was very unusual to have a mother daughter officer team together at the same place. There are very few of these teams in the Navy, and it is rare to have them stationed together. Many of my colleagues went to the pharmacy just to check her out. Libby was one of 3 Pharmacists to be stationed on the Hospital ship, USNS Comfort, when the Iraqi war first started, and she was only 3 miles from shore, watching scuds fly over her head and mines following the ship. I stayed back in the role of the worrying mother.
My younger daughter, Mary, is quite an accomplished soccer player, so attended UMBC as an undergraduate on a soccer scholarship. UMBC is a division I school so she has had many interesting experiences with NCAA. She red shirted her first year because of a knee injury the end of high school so is actually playing her final season this fall semester of graduate school. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa in May, one of only 2 athletes out of the 120 inductees.
Time has flown by, and it is hard to believe that I had a 27 year career in the Navy (actually 34 years when I include my inactive ready reserve time), that we graduated from high school 40 years ago, that I graduated from nursing school 36 years ago, and that we are closer to 60 than 50!
Next 10 Years: I would like to be able to attend the next reunion since I will be unable to attend this one and have not been able to attend any since we graduated. I have also taken up golf, so would like to master that and still stay healthy enough to play when we are closer to 70 than 60!
Favorite Memories: Playing varsity sports; playing my flute in marching band, concert band, and orchestra; traveling to Chicago with the band for competition; being a counselor at Camp White Cloud. |
Spouse: Gene Carton Phone number: (314) 991-5371 E-mail address: genelin@charter.net Present occupation: Director of Association Services
Life and Family: These have been the happiest ten years of my life. I've been married almost twelve years and have been in my job almost nine years. Because Gene and I married so late in life we never had children, so my twin nephews from my younger sister are the lights of my life. I feel like I've accomplished much for the Home Builders Association with the programming and other events I've done for them and believe they see my contributions as very worthwhile also.
Next 10 Years: Retirement, lots of travel and getting to see my nephews more.
Favorite Memories: Sadly, I don't have many memories of my years at U. City, which is why I've never attended any of the past reunions. I'm hoping my classmates can help me to remember the good times (and even the not so good times). |
Life and Family: Sheila and I have raised two spectacular kids....Jeff is 32....graduated Indiana and got his J.D. from SLU Law School. Jeff didn't want to practice law and came to work in our family business several years afer graduating SLU. Lisa is 28 and has her Masters in Education from DePaul. She teaches in the Chicago suburbs. Sheila has worked for our Synagogue for the past 18 years. Sheila went to U. City through her Sophomore year and then moved to Parkway where she graduated in 1967. I hope the next 10 years and far beyond are as good to me and my family as the past 10 years have been. |
Life and Family: The last 10 years have certainly been filled with change. Bill and I are now Grandparents to Lauren, age 4 and Alex, age 19 months, thanks to our oldest daughter Rebecca and her hubby, Scott. Our youngest daughter, Liz, lives in Dallas Texas and works for SW Airlines, a perk being that parents get to fly free! Gotta love a kid who takes such good care of her parents. When Bill and I first married 36 years ago, I told him that I never wanted to grow old where winters were cold. So one day, after looking in the mirror, I decided the time had come to high-tail it out of Missouri. I opened an Atlas and the page I turned to was Georgia. Sounded warmer than Missouri! I then closed my eyes, turned the map in all directions and pointed to a city and the upside is that we now live in Villa Rica, Georgia. We like to say we're 26 miles from Alabama rather than admit that we're 34 miles from Atlanta. Anyone who has ever had to fight Atlanta traffic will (!) understand why we don't admit to being from Atlanta. When Bill heard that I wanted to move, he said it would be impossible to find a new job quickly. So, really hating the cold, I put his resume on line and within 2 hours he had a call to come interview. As they say, the rest is history and we've been "southerners" for 6 years. In Missouri I was a wedding and portrait photographer for 25 years, but having had trouble getting my business started here in the South, I took a job teaching Pre-K. After one year of teaching 4 year olds, there is a heightened incentive to try and get my photography business going again. Bill and I both enjoy the outdoors and especially enjoy shooting, both with cameras and guns. I'm also getting intrigued with geocaching. |

Spouse: Larry Glenn Phone number: (314) 725-9190 E-mail address: gglenn@gglenn.net Present occupation: Psychoanalyst
Life and Family: Life is good. I'm happily married for 36 years, and have 2 children, and 4 granddaughters (two granddaughters live nearby). My private practice as a psychoanalyst remains an enjoyable and active part of my life. As Chair of Education at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute, I supervise therapists & analysts, teach, write and present papers. Like many of you we travel extensively and recently to our second home in Montana, where we hike, ski, horseback ride, enjoy the weather and low key life style. I still attempt to find time to pursue some hobbies and interests such as reading gardening, exercising, movies, and good wine shared with good friends and family.
Next 10 Years: I expect the next ten years to mirror the present only in a different ratio. My colleagues maintain a private practice until they are 80! While at some point I'll cut back my patient hours I am certain I will stay involved in a career I enjoy.
Favorite Memories: The richest memories are by far experiences with friends. I cherish the opportunities to have enjoyed a wide range of friendships through the variety of activities U. City provided us. I look forward to the reunion and catching up with many of those whose life I once shared, lo' those many years ago. |
Phone number: (636) 532-7706 E-mail address: gail_needles@sbcglobal.net Present occupation: looking for a new job Life and Family: Over the years my life has taken many twists and turns. I went to college to be a teacher but shortly after my classroom experience I found I would much rather have children than teach them. I married, divorced, and raised two wonderful daughters, Sara and Marla. Both are elementary school teachers and love it. I am a grandmother to three: Melissa (15), Gracie (4), and Tyler (2).
I have dabbled in several career opportunities over the years. However, positions in fund raising have held the most interest to me thus far. For the past 3 years I have worked for The College of Optometrists in Vision Development, which recently ended when they moved lock, stock, and computer to Ohio. So, now I am between jobs and open to tackle a new position.
I also have one of the only negative income jobs when you're a grandmother; I work part-time at The Disney Store.
Next 10 Years: I hope to be healthy, able to retire, and spend more time with my grandchildren. I would also like to do some traveling. And, perhaps have a companion/husband at my side to enjoy these things with me.
Favorite Memories: folk dancing, walking to elementary school with Ms. Kerr and Phyllis Elkins (thanks for waiting for me), Wig Wam, playing in the jug band with Mike Cruvant, Bob Abrams, David Lazarous and Jim Sczepanski, senior skip day, and my many friendships especially Ruthie Franzel. |
Life and Family: I have been married to Rich for almost 38 years. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 grandchildren - so far. Joe(36), married, a contractor in Aspen, CO, and Daddy of a Shelby(9) and Josh(22). Michael (33), married, a proud defender of the US as a member of the Army, and Daddy of a Shaunie(14) and Dakota(5). And Tammy(28), married, Certified Child Life Specialist and Infant Massage Therapist at John's Hopkins and Mommy of Zachary(2). What a joy. I was a stay-at-home Mom until my 2 younger children were in high school. For the last 14 years I have been caring for teenagers at Parkway North High where I have seen some of your children. |

Life and Family: Got divorced 1996. Retired from career as floor trader on American Stock Exchange 2001. Still trying to figure out what to do when I grow up. Steve adds: Got my engineering degree and worked as a programmer and hardware designer in and around Boston until 1980. Moved to Los Angeles, got an MBA, managed a couple of sales forces. Hated it with a passion. Packed up everything in 1989 to come to New York. Cashed in my life savings, got a seat on the American Stock Exchange, and started trading options for my own account. Options trading is kind of a glorified form of bookmaking. The risks and rewards are both *huge*, especially when you're doing it with your own money, as I was. If you saw "Trading Places" with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy, that's a vaguely accurate presentation. I loved trading, but it's not something I wanted to do forever. Was planning to leave in late 2001. Nine of my fellow Amex members were killed on 9/11 when they went up to Windows on the World at the top of the Trade Center for breakfast that day. The Amex is two short blocks south of where the Trade Center was. I used to walk through the Trade Center every day to get from the train station to the Amex. For quite a while I couldn't bring myself to go back down there. Out of town guests would ask, "Can you take us down to Ground Zero?" and I'd tell them, no thanks, but they could go on their own. Nowadays, thankfully, I can go down there without trauma. In response to a question: The "Ace" handle from high school days was self-selected. One time we had to fill out our names, addresses, and phone numbers for some student directory or another. Just for fun, I put down "Ace" for my first name. For some reason it stuck. The "Ace" in my email handle is entirely coincidence. Wall Street street traders have an institutional identity. At the Amex, the first part of your identity is the acronym for your clearing firm (the company whose financial clout backs up your trades in emergencies). I cleared through Bear, Stearns, whose chairman at the time was Alan C. "Ace" Greenberg. So that part of my institutional name was ACE. And my membership badge number was 1242. So whenever I did a trade, I'd tell the other trader, "I'm ACE 1242." It seemed natural to use that as an email handle as well. Nowadays I "work" part time as a house player at a private bridge club on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. When three members need a fourth player, I fill in. In one of life's funny coincidences, Ace Greenberg is a member of this club. I've played with and against him frequently. I don't play in serious bridge tournaments much any more, but I did have a good result in the national mixed (think: coed) pairs in Phoenix in 1995. I'm planning on being there 9/8-9/10. It will my first time in St. Louis since 1970. |
Life and Family: Married to the same woman, Kitty, for 30 years, and lived in the same house for 27 years. Kitty, who lived in Quito Ecuador before we married, has a sister, Lulu, who lived in Tel Aviv, Israel and now lives in Malmo, Sweden with Kitty’s mother. Attending life cycle events with Kitty’s family has always been one of our top priorities and has proven to be a source of some interesting situations. Last time we were in Sweden for our nephew’s bar mitzvah, we attended a marriage anniversary party where you could not sit and have dinner or dance with your wife. We also visited Stockholm where we saw the Marriage of Figaro, sung in Italian with Swedish subtitles. |
Life Family: I continue to work at an environmental consulting firm writing environmental impact statements and directing the cultural resources (archaeology & history) program. My daughter (now 32) was married several years ago to a wonderful man. They live in Eugene, Oregon. I am still hoping my son (now 30) will grow up and marry his girlfriend. He keeps coming back home. Life is good! |
Life and Family: One day sophomore year, I was walking through the coach’s office after track practice, when the venerable Henry Schemmer came up to me, stood 3 inches away, and shouted, “Handsher, are you any good?” What does that mean? I thought. Good? Of course, the answer to his narrow question about my athletic abilities, would have been “No” due to an abundant lack of talent. Instead, I just shrugged and walked on. |
Life and Family: Lynn and I have been married for 21 years. We have 5 children, Penny (34), Jason (33), Christie (31), Kathrine (28) and Courtney (26). We have 3 grandchildren, Taylor (13), Cheryl (11) and Payton (4) - we should have started with our grandchildren!!! I was in banking for over 24 years; a stock broker for 4 years and am currently working in my church as a Pastoral Care Minister. We currently live in Cypress, Texas where we enjoy the heat and humidity. Lynn and I love to travel and take trips to the "hill country" of Texas where we have a second home. |
Spouse: Sherri Holtzman Harris Phone number: (314) 725-6261 E-mail address: robtharris@gmail.com Present occupation: First Vice-President / Morgan Stanley
Life and Family: I am writing you from the holy land where I live and work, Clayton, Missouri. Not only that, but, I married above my caste, a Clayton girl who has the distinction of graduating from Ladue. How much more of a traitor can I be? Sherri and I have been married 28 years. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is in private practice with a child psychiatrist, specializing in severly sick children(think suicidal six year olds). I went into the securities business and in 1983 became a partner and New York Stock Exchange seat holder with the firm. It hasn't been a bad career choice. Our son Adam, age 24, lives in New York City and will be joining a large corporate law firm there in December. Our daughter Melissa, age 23, finished Washington U. last December and has been working at her cousin's internet company here in Clayton. By the way, that cousin's last name is Novack. You see anytime I want a reunion I just go over to my sister's house. She is married to Mark Novack, U City '66, and yes, all three of his kids are geniuses!
Next 10 Years: My dad died at the age of 56. I assumed I would too. So, I calculated to the hour when I would keel over. When I didn't, I thought of this as "extra innings". I recently sold myself to Morgan Stanley, so I'm under contract until 2010. If I make it until then, I think I'll enjoy life a little more.
Favorite Memories: Sitting at the White Castle at Hodiamont and Delmar in Ben Paster's '57 Desoto with the push button transmission on the dash, when all of a sudden, he turns to me and tells me he's dating our English teacher, Judy Gray. They were married for close to 30 years before she died prematurely of Pancreatic Cancer. |

Life and Family: After U. City I did a 4 year stint in the U.S. Navy. In the meantime Barb Bevers, class of '66, and I got married and had two sons, Chris and Joey, while I was serving in Nam and other duty stations. Then I took a job with Lever Bros.[Unilever], worked for them until early retirement Feb.1, 2001. Barb and I divorced in '75. My current wife and I retired on a 42ft. Chris Craft yacht name Suc-m-Up, which we acquired in '99 while preparing for our 2002 retirement. In Oct. 2001, we motored from St. Charles to Bradenton Fl., a wonderful, scenic trip. We lived aboard for 1 1/2 yrs. We currently live in a retirement mobile home park on the water, where we keep 27ft. Regal express cruiser on a lift. 20 minutes to Tampa Bay or the Gulf of Mexico. Joey and his wife and four kids live in St.Petersburg Fl, as does Barb. Our other son lives in Dallas Tx. My wife has two daughters, who have 6 grandkids between them, between ages 1 and 5. Currently we're taking short cruises to Clearwater, Sarasota, and St.Peters! We take trips back to St. Louis, Dallas, and La Crosse Wi.[ Mom and sister Debbie, class '69] to visit family. |
Life and Family: Not much has changed. Still at the same job. Still have the same husband. Now have a 2nd home in Scottsdale. Have just taken up yoga and golf. Still playing tennis. Doing some travelling. The most interesting place I visited was China. |
Life and Family: A lot has remained the same. We are in the same house, and I am in the same job, working as a therapist in a specialty program for women with borderline personality disorder in a psychiatric hospital. My husband left public school teaching and is now self-employed as a private tutor, specializing in learning disabilities and assisting with running a summer camp for kids with dyslexia. We have comtinued to rescue animals and currently have 5 cats, a retired racing greyhound, and a beagle mix. We have recently discovered the National parks and have enjoyed several wonderful trips. |

Life and Family: I am a grandmother to a little girl - Chloe Mae Lazarus, a resident of Stratton, Vermont where my son Josh and his wife live. Josh is a veterinarian and is his wife is a pottery artist for Frog Hollow. My daughter Tammy lives with Ron & me and works producing film including Hurricane coverage for the Red Cross. Life is good and I continue practicing Law, solving old title problems. I miss the old days at U. City.
Next 10 Years: More grandchildren
Favorite Memories: Life was so easy and uncomplicated |
Life and Family: Although I ultimately completed my high school education elsewhere, how well I remember both the good times and the bad, the fun, the laughter, and the hardships I experienced at University City High School. |
Sam B. Kallenberg Sam Kallenberg here. I now live in Durham, North Carolina and work as a landscaper. I play Bluegrass music and participate in activities of the Baha'i Faith, which was founded in 1844 by Baha'u'llah (the Glory of God.) The Faith teaches the Unity of mankind, the oneness of religions, and the oneness of God. |

Life and Family: The last ten years have provided me with a new "step" family and three wonderful grandsons. |
Life and Family: Older brother John passed away a few years ago. Granddaughter Emma was born 9/11/05. |
Life and Family: I became a grandfather to 2 very cute grandsons (3 years old, 7 months old) by my daughter Lauren (29) who lives with her husband Ethan in Salt Lake City, UT, where Ethan is a resident physician. I am vicariously enjoying the activities of my son Joshua (26), who is doing a start-up software business involing video and the internet in San Francisco, where he is living in a rooming house on the corner of, would you believe, Haight and Ashbury (which I am told is somewhat different from what it was in the 60's). In 1997 I remarried a wonderful gal, Sharon, who was a fashion designer for 20 years in New York. She joined me in Washington, D.C., and after a short period of time, decided that since there was no fashion industry in Washington, or according to her no fashion whatsoever, to go to law school. She is now engaged in an exciting new career in Government relations/lobbying. The upshot for me was that I went from being an average to poor dresser to being one of the better dressers in my law firm, Venable LLC, where I have a very satisfying career as an Intellectual Property lawyer, specializing in patent law. With a significant foreign clientele, mainly in Europe and Israel, we have the opportunity to travel frequently to those locations. I also have the pleasure of helping to raise two exceptional step-daughters, Michaela (17) who is currently a Page in the House of Representatives and loving the experience, and Aliyah (13) who is very artistic and a joy to watch grow up. On the whole the last ten years have been filled with much happiness, interjected with extraordinary sadness over the loss of my older brother Myron (51) to a heart attack and my oldest brother Joe (59) to lung cancer. |
Karen Louise Kisslinger (Dweck)
Life and Family: I continue to practice acupuncture and related healing arts. I teach a lot related to oriental medicine, meditation, relaxation and stress reduction. I have a regular radio show called "Time to Relax" and a regular newspaper column called "Way of Life". I still love organic gardening, singing with friends, cooking, playing the saxaphone, and being with my older and less available kids. I stay in touch with my family as much as I can, though none of them are still in St. Louis I just came around on my 11th year after a breast cancer diagnosis...and feel confirmed and affirmed in my non-conventional approach to healing. I'm curious how many other women from our class, after the nuclear fall out, etc, of our childhoods, also had a diagnosis of breast cancer in the past 10 or 15 years. Next 10 Years: Getting involved on a more global scale with some of my "pet" causes such as sustainable agriculture, preventive medicine, sustainable infant feeding (i/e/ human milk), meditation and other spiritual practices. Playing my tenor saxaphone more. Teaching more about my life-long practice and skills related to acupuncture and oriental medicine. Hanging out with friends and singing more. More Peace work whenever and wherever possible. Favorite Memories: Looking back, I think there was a great balance and mix of social, academic and extracurricular (including music, dance, chorus and the musical) life. I loved it all, and people still hate me when I tell them that I really enjoyed high school! I guess I'd especially point to the music, the singing and the "pro show". I also loved Wigwam and dancing every Friday night. Now I sing every Friday night with friends. |
Life and Family: Since November 2004 I am now working as an intellectual property law attorney after having retired from the federal government where I served as a Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Our children have graduated from James Madison University and Virginia Polytechnical University in 2003 and 2005 with degrees in Ecommerce and Business Information Technology. Both are living and working in the DC metropolitan area. I am also the Director of the LLM and JD IP Law Program at the George Mason University School of Law. |
Adrienne Kusmer Rich Spouse: Robert Rich (U. City '64) Phone Number: (314) 322-3287 E-mail Address: rrich328@earthlink.net Present Occupation: Real Estate. Life and Family: I had a party event decorating business for 18 years, but retired. I was loosing my entrhusiasm and decided there were other career opportunities I wanted to pursue. I then received my brokers license in real estate. I decided to rehab some properties in the city. I was really excited about reviving some of the old beautiful homes in that area and becoming part of the revitalization in the city. It was incredible to see these uninhabitable properties turn into beautiful homes. I have now put that on hold and I am helping my daughter develop a new sub franchise out of Memphis. We will be opening 40 of these restaurants. The name is Lenny's Sub Shop. There will be 15 in St. Louis and 25 in the eastern part of Missouri. Our flagship store just opened a month ago and it is located at Elm and Big Bend. You are all welcome to visit. You will know my daughter, Danielle, as people often think she is my clone. I still like to work out, but my new found love is golf. I am now playing 3 times a week, but I really stink. I have made some fabulous friends and we call ourselves the "giggle golfers". |
Life and Family: I have been married for the past 37 years to a wonderful, supportive, and loving man. We have had 3 children. |
Life and Family: I have been a corporate attorney in a large St. Louis Law Firm. For 5 years of "purgatory", I was the managing partner of the firm. I finally had an epiphany: I gave one year notice to my firm that I would quit all management duties at the firm; Sandy & I bought a vacation home in Cozumel, Mexico; and I accepted an adjunct professorship at Washington U. Law School (teaching a course in mergers & acquisitions). While I still enjoy practicing law, I have instilled a bit of balance in my life. |
In 2003, I sold my original architectural firm and joined the St. Louis office of ACI/Boland to be the Director of Healthcare, Senior Living, and Higher Education Design; my practice covers an area from Minnesota to Arkansas, and Kansas/Oklahoma to Indiana. Also in 2003, after serving many years on appointed boards and commissions in the City of Clayton, I ran and was elected to a seat on the Board of Aldermen; I was re-elected in April 2006. It is challenging and exciting with an excellent professional staff and a very active, vocal constituency. Also during the last ten years I have been a member and vice president of the Central Agency for Jewish Education. In our "free time", Ruth-Ellen and I travel often to visit Sam and Sara, make yearly ski trips to Whistler, BC, summers on Nantucket Island, sojourns to Santa Fe for the opera season, and other domestic and foreign trips. Also, we just adopted a new puppy, Cookie - just like having a baby again!

Life and Family: After being diagnosed with systemic lupus in 1969 I have gone on to lead a full life. The disease has been controlled and now that I'm older there are very few "flares". I am extremely lucky to have been able to work full time all these years and travel extensively. For my 50th birthday I went to Churchill, Manitoba Canada to photograph polar bears. Living "captive" on the tundra was amazing. There were bears, snowy owls and arctic fox everywhere and aurora was visible the entire 10 days. It was the journey of a lifetime! I still volunteer at the Fox Theatre on Saturday nights and have the title "Head Usher" which means much responsibility and allows me to see many of our classmates when they come to see Broadway! The last four years I've been extremely active in ABWA (American Business Women's Association) serving four terms as newsletter editor, two years as president and this year as vice president of the Northwest Charter Chapter. I was elected the 2005 Woman of the Year and will be attending the National Conference in California shortly after the reunion. I travel as time allows and spend about 10 days each winter in Puerto Vallarta Mexico...it's not a bad life. My companion cat, Mimi, passed away two years ago at the age of 18. I now have two rambunctious siblings who are adorable and are named Nick and Nora after "The Thin Man" characters. The newest thing in my life is having my sight back! After wearing glasses since first grade I am now without glasses thanks to cataract surgery.
Next 10 Years: I would like to retire by age 60 and travel to far off lands to photograph animals in the wild. October 2007 I hope to help in a study of dolphins in Belize.
Favorite Memories: It's hard to describe, but everything about U City was great -- Wig Wam, Hamburger Heaven, Golden Fried Chicken, Toddle House, Varsity and Tivoli theatres, the Loop, being able to go anywhere on a bus or street car, knowing everyone on your block and walking to school. Nothing can compare to the education we got at U City during the 60's, we were truly blessed!
Favorite memories include being a lead in The Red Mill and playing opposite Max, Pro Shows and musical concerts and the sad memory of Pro telling us that President Kennedy was shot and moving to the next hour where you could hear a pin drop in those halls! Of course my favorite teachers were Pro, Miss Zaman and Mr. McKinney. |
Life and Family: It has definitely gone by quickly. I remember thinking to myself, "ok, I have 10 years to get myself back into shape!" How fast time flies. It's been 10 years and no luck! |
Life and Family: My wife, Laura, and myself have now been married and living in Florida for the past 28 years. In the past year, our 24 year old daughter, Heather, graduated from Southeastern and married Josh in April and live in Jacksonville. David, 23, is in the Navy and stationed in Norfolk, and just gave us our first grandson, Drake, in February. Elyse, 16, is a junior, and our adopted son, Arthur, 11, is in 5th grade. It seems everyone else are empty-nesters and we still have an eleven year old. But, you'll see, he keeps us young! |
Life and Family: I bought a lake front cottage in West Union, South Carolina, right on beautiful Lake Keeowee near Clemson, South Carolina about 2 hours north of Atlanta. I have a book on the internet that is Public Domain if you google my name, it is called Twilight's First Gleaming, about spiritual growth, concepts of Karma, and Astrology. It documents my 19 years on Radio and TV in Los Angeles from 1983 to 1999, on KFOX, KROQ, KMET, KNTF, KIIS, CRN, and ABC7, Eyewitness News as a Talk Radio Show Host, Journalist, Reporter, Entertainment reporter, and teacher of Astrology, Metaphysics, Meditation techniques, Course in Miracles, Higher Consciousness, Homeopathic Health techniques, and Self-Realization. You will also find my record as Sports reporter and prognosticator in several capacities including professional accomplishments by googling my name, or searching for it. I was fortunate to do classified Astrology work for Nancy Reagan for Ronald's first Inauguration (!),when I warned them of a possible asssassination attempt, which unfortunately occurred. I was on the late show, the Arsenio Hall show, America with Morgan Fairchild, and was able to host, produce and direct 3,400 TV and Radio Shows, plus 10,000 commercials, and 400 shows on ABC7, Eyewitness News, Los Angeles, being an entertainment reporter. My best interview was with Debbie Reynolds in Las Vegas. I was on tour with Boy George in 1986 and warned him of a possible abuse problem in his horoscope prior to his problems. I was fortunate to travel with George C. Scott on the QE2, in 1982. He encouraged me to go into show business, and was a critical role model for my show business career, due to the 30 days I spent with him. I also met Art Buchwald then and toured Martinique with him, which was pivotal in my life's choices. My life is good, I am blessed, happy, free, financially secure, thank goodness, and have little regret. I plan on writing a few books, some of which may include the inner child, Astral Projection, a documentary on my life, and a book of poems. I may also publish or produce two science fiction rock operas that I wrote in the 80's. I have been active in encouraging World Peace, Animal Rights, Women's Rights, vegetarianism, helping the homeless, and research into heart disease. I created my own pension, so I have a fixed income, with little debt, and really have no reason to work. I consider myself very lucky and blessed, and hope that the Lord continues to bless me in good health and happiness. Favorite Memories: I enjoyed being the History Proctor for Mr. Luke for 2 years, grading all the tests, including finals and mid terms. I look back on that as a lot of power that I didn't realize I had. I also enjoyed the Washington Trip immensely, although I may have chosen the wrong lady to be my girlfriend. Oops. Sorry, Marilyn. I goofed. I also enjoyed being told I was one of the best students in the history of U. City in Typing by Mr. Rock, when I typed 60 wpm at one time. I now type nearly 90 wpm. I was proud to be elected to the House of Representatives and Senior Cabinet, as one day I decided to try and get in, and I easily did. For that, I thank my fellows in the homeroom, with apologies to Susan Losse & Mel Martin (LOL). I totally enjoyed the play I was in, "Dosvedanya, Dosvedanya Petitsa" ("Bye Bye Birdie" in Russian), even though I had a small part, as I went on to get a degree in Speech, Drama, and English in 1970 at Missouri/Central Methodist University in Columbia, and Fayette, Missouri. I very much enjoyed when a group of us guys broke the MONOPOLY RECORD over the Christmas Holidays one year, as we stayed up all night and played for a couple weeks nonstop to temporarily hold the record in Guiness Books. Getting drunk for the first time and being busted at Wigwam with Michael Malevan will be something I may never forget and always have to live with. My relationship with Gail Goldstein was special, as she is, and I will never forget her for that. Thanks Gail. I was disappointed that I wasn't chosen for counselor at Camp White Cloud, and will always feel discriminated against, but my grades were always C's and A's, so teachers didn't know what to make of me. Ms. Bowers blew my mind failing me and 30 others in English, one year, when I went to summer school to make up. That was the only F I ever got in High School, and I was always miffed at her for that. IS she still alive? Ms. Eveloff was really something. We were all dazzled by her charm, and it was tough to pay attention to her lectures, ahem. I want to thank My mom and dad for preventing me from playing football, as I'm sure I would have gotten hurt. Mom has been very intuitive about that. U.City would have won the Championship had I played (Grin).I went on to coach and play on a team at Central Methodist in 1968 that won a championship in football. I also went on to win 9 championships in flag football over 20 years with 9 to 12 year-old boys and girls in L.A. I ended up being quite a street basketball player and jogger in years that followed, too. I wish I would have studied more, as I hoofed it through high school and rarely picked up a book, doing most everything last minute and faking it all. The cheating that went on in Chemistry and other subjects amongst the guys was widespread, intense, enormous, and I was happy NOT to be a part of that. The files some of the guys had were huge. Sorry about that, Mr. Hale, but it happened, as you trusted everyone. I also remember the secret romantic and sensuous encounters that went on in Audio Visual rooms, before school started, in doorways, and so on, after school, and being with some provocative ladies when I least expected it. Thanks for the education, gals. I enjoyed my memories of U. City as high school was easy for me, my friends were great, some life-long, and my relationships in general ok. My REAL Girlfriend was a secret, as she was 6'3", named Carol Jean and lived in Manchester. I regret to this day I did not marry her, as we had a honeymoon type experience, and due to a religous difference I chose not to marry her. BIG MISTAKE. Carol, God Bless you, wherever you may be. Those weekends in the hotel rooms were unfogettable. This is true confession, right? I mostly remember a great amount of comaraderie that went on between myself and a bunch of guys who eventually pledged AEPI, ZBT, and Sammy at the University of Missouri. Being at Mizzou was fun with all those guys, but I partied too much, and transferred to Central Methodist in Fayette in my junior year, then graduated with Honors. I will always remember U. City, Class of 66 with a twinkle in my eye, and love in my heart. In retrospect I should have spent much more time with Drama, school politics, and basketball. Oh well. |
Life and Family: The past ten years have been exceptionally good to me! I've enjoyed good health, have traveled extensively, been successful financially, and recently moved to a new home in Dallas. My wife, Mary Ann, has started an already very successful recruiting business in the past three years also. My brother and I invest in commercial real estate in Florida. We had a second home in Santa Fe, NM, which we sold during the summer |
Life and Family: Been married- worked for the BBC for 4 years in London, have been a reporter, and a News Director in Florida. Now living in Arizona consulting and writing a book on film producer Samuel Bronston (El Cid, 55 Days at Peking, Fall of the Roman Empire). Also an Amateur Astronomer with many published Astro-photos. |
Life and Family: Between the time I graduated from UCHS and age 35 or so, life worked out better than I might have imagined. I graduated from Swarthmore College, went directly on to get a PhD from MIT, found an interesting job working for an economic research and public policy consulting firm in Boston, and was blessed with a happy marriage and two young sons. Harder times followed. A job loss forced a painful uprooting of the family to the New York area, and soon thereafter I was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative kidney disease. |
Spouse: Adie Fixler Mestman (U. City 1966) Phone number: (858) 273-3079 E-mail address: amestman@san.rr.com Present occupation: Optometrist
Life and Family: I am still practicing with the same medical group that I have been with for 20 years. I work with four wonderful eye surgeons in a great facility. We have many good friends in San Diego (33 years), but, imported our closest ones from U. City. I continue to play racquetball regularly with Alan Barth and tennis on a weekly basis with Gary Saks and Alan. Adie and I have two sons who we truly enjoy and a wonderful daughter-in-law. We are fortunate to have a grandson living in San Diego. If we had known how much fun grandchildren were, we would have had him first! For more info--read Adie's questionnaire-she always edited what I wrote at U. City (don't tell Ms. Rothschild) and still continues to outshine me!
Next 10 Years: I will gradually get used to people calling me "sir". I will slow down in my practice, enjoy the grandchildren (hope more will come), travel, keep up the sports and exercise, and take up fishing again.
Favorite Memories: Long lasting friendships. It was a special high school experience with wonderful friends and teachers that led to lasting relationships. I haven't really lived in U. City since high school, but, still feel a strong connection. I am looking forward to renewing friendships in September and want to thank the hard working members of the planning committee for making it happen! |
Phone number: 314-725-0565 Life and Family: sherri and i have been married for 24 years (but who's counting), and we have one son, sam who is 15 and a freshman at clayton high school. sometimes you go a long way to get back to where you were since i live only about one mile from where i lived in high school and my office was in clayton until a little over 5 years ago. we are raising our son and taking the occasional trip to places warm with beaches or cold with mountains and snow, or the dreaded family trip for simchas and other deleterious reasons.sam is a great kid, a good student (hurray) and a very good athlete and soccer player(its a miracle) and pretty funny. Next 10 Years: as for the future, i would like to retire in about 9 years. i have been practicing for 31 years and 40 years sounds like a pretty good number on which to stop wandering in the desert. so hopefully, i will have gotten this lawyering thing down perfect, and i can stop practicing. where we will go, i do not know. maybe sherri and i will do the snow bird bit.i would like to study, read, travel more widely excercise more and get my weight down again.
